Level 5’s are on the move!
May 20th
Watch out for the Level 5 Girls!! They have picked up momentum since State and are learning lots of new skills, perfecting old ones, and staying POSITIVE!!
We are working lots of up-hill drills on floor for back tumbling and the girls are seeing the reward. Many of them can back tuck up to 2 mats! We are also working on making our front handsprings POP off the floor more. On bars we are working long-hang pull-overs, fly-aways, kip cast kips, and clear-hips. On vault we have been working on a better run harder and faster on our toes. This has been hard work but its paying off. On beam we have begun to work back walk-over on all the beams as well as full turns. In dance they are working lots of leaps and turns trying to make them bigger and higher!
The girls are still working hard on their Level 5 skills so they won’t loose anything over the summer. These skills continue to improve as we build upon them.
GREAT JOB LADIES!! Keep up the hard work!

Congrats to a GREAT end of the Level 5 meet season. Taylor Stewart is the new Level 5 Floor State Champ!!! Taylor isn’t the only one who has something to be proud of though, every girl accomplished some goal at the meet. The girls all stayed positive and it showed in their performances.
Here are a few of our highlights from the meet…Taylor Stewart got her first 9 (a 9.1 to be exact) of the year on floor and won floor. Jordan got her highest bar score of the year at an 8.45. Hannah received a 8.925 on beam which is her highest beam score ever! Antonia had an awesome vault with a score of 8.625. Kaylie achieved her goal of the year and got a 9.025 on beam. Olivia had a fantastic beam routine and a score of 8.75 and tied for 5th! Darby came back from an injury to compete all-around and had an awesome beam score of 8.45. Heidi had a 9.175 and is 2sd in the State on beam! Riley had a great meet and finished strong on floor with a 8.225. Callie had a great meet and a beam score of 8.95. Rachel is working really hard at Level 6 and can now do the first half of bar routine as well as a fly away!
As the girls are learning about team work, we have worked on team goals for each meet. The girls accomplished their goals for the past three meets!!!
Overall, our State Meet was a great end to a great season! We are now looking forward to starting basics and strength to make our team even stronger for next year! Great Job Ladies!!
Intersquad Reminder
Oct 11th
REMINDER Level 4-6 parents/gymnasts we will be holding a intersquad this Friday October 9th during regular practice time. Please have the girls wear their favorite leotard (not a competition leo please) and have hair up and out of their faces.
To minimize nerves we ask parents to stay in the lobby during the Intersquad.
Any questions please ask Ms. Faye!
Thanks!
Level 5’s
Oct 4th
We have done a great job this week staying focused, working hard, and having fun. This has been such a change from the last couple of weeks and every girl has improved skills and routines this week. We’ve even had some of the girls get new skills! We will continue to focus routines this week as we prepare for our Intersquad this friday. I will also send a letter home about the Intersquad on Monday and post it on the Blog as well. Fantastic Job this week ladies!!!!
Parents, please remember to have your child bring a healthy snack to practice. This will give them more energy and help them to stay focused better. See you Monday!
Lv. 5 Update
Sep 27th
We’ve had a tough time focusing and staying on task lately. On saturday we did a mini meet for the girls so they could see what they need to improve on in the next two weeks. I think the girls were dissapointed in their overall performance and will hopefully work really hard before the Intersquad. We just aren’t quite where we would like to be, but, with a little hard work and dedication we will be there.
Level 5 Update
Sep 20th
Practices are going pretty well. The girls seem to be loosing focus of the basics so we spent last week re-visiting those and they will continue into this week, especially in dance. We will also continue to work routines and routine parts focusing on making each turn better than the last and really thinking about what our bodies are doing. Saturday we did a mini meet for the girls to give them a break and also as reality check for the upcomming Intersquad in October. Hopefully the girls will see we still have some work to do before then and they will work super hard to improve. We posted some of our goals in the back of the gym so they can see what they want to work on this week. This will be a daily reminder of their goals and what they want to accomplish.
We have ONE MORE kip clinic before the Intersquad, it will be on Monday September 21st from 8.15-9pm.
Remember Ladies, We would rather see you miss with correct form and technique than make with incorrect form and technique. See you Monday with smiling faces and positive attitudes!
Hot Shot Camp – Beam
Sep 13th
This week I went to Hot Shot camp in Columbus with Jake and Amybeth to work with other coaches and gymnasts from Region 5. I learned a lot of great new techniques, some tips on what judges are looking for, and what other coaches in our Region are doing. This week on beam I will be implementing some of these new things like the difference between a closed ankle and an open ankle. I will also be doing some new strength, jump work, and posture activities on beam. I also learned new strength, flexibility, and dance work to incorporate into practices. Amybeth and Jake also came back with some great bar and vault drills so look for these as well. Great Job this weekend Maddie, Alyssa, and Alivia went can’t wait to try our new stuff in the gym!!
Level 5!
Sep 6th
The girls have started working full routines by themselves this past week in preperation of our intersquad (Friday, October 9th). Vaults are looking great. Many of the girls are able to go over the table alone and form is getting better. Floor routines are also looking great. Dawn is doing a fantastic job breaking the routines into parts and picking it apart. Tumbling is getting better, but, we still need a bit more UMPH somtimes. Beam and bar routines are getting a bit easier as they continue to get skills. On bars we are having the girls push through a full routine by themselves as well as being spotted. This week also starts our Kip Clinics! I’ll post updates about these later. Fantastic Job this week ladies…enjoy your weekend!!
Satureday Tumblegaten
Aug 30th
Both 9am and 10am tumblegarten classes are doing fantastic! we are learning pull-overs on bars as well as how to cast. Many of the girls already know what a glide swing is so we are working on improving it. On vault we are learning how to run and jump of the board with two feet. Its hard to learn at first, but it will get easier as we practice. All the girls can now climb onto the beam properly!! yay! This can be tough but they all got it!! On floor we are working a lot of handstands are carthwheels. These are super important skills that they will eventually use on all the events, especially the handstand.
Next week we will continue to work these skills as well as adding new ones. Great Job this week girls!! See you saturday!
