Satureday Tumblegaten

Both 9am and 10am tumblegarten classes are doing fantastic! we are learning pull-overs on bars as well as how to cast. Many of the girls already know what a glide swing is so we are working on improving it. On vault we are learning how to run and jump of the board with two feet. Its hard to learn at first, but it will get easier as we practice. All the girls can now climb onto the beam properly!! yay! This can be tough but they all got it!! On floor we are working a lot of handstands are carthwheels. These are super important skills that they will eventually use on all the events, especially the handstand.
Next week we will continue to work these skills as well as adding new ones. Great Job this week girls!! See you saturday!

Level 5’s

We had another great week! This week we began full attempts at bar routines by ourselves and continued to work kips, casts, and front hip circles. Beam is looking good. Routines are comming together nicely as our confidence is growing. The girls vaults are improving as we are getting more aggressive and tighter. Floor dance and tumbling is also improving. We are getting tighter on tumbling and learning how to block and rebound off the floor.
The girls all received a handout at the end of practice saturday with a report on how they are doing. This is a new way to communicate with parents with how their child is doing. It in NO WAY reflects what level they will be. This is just an update of skills, attitudes, and overall performance of the girls. I will be handing them out at the end of each month. Please if you have questions about your daughter please email or catch me before or after practices and we can set up a meeting to discuss it in private. Keep up the great work girls and we will see you monday!! Go TEAM!!

What an AMAZING DAY!!

Holey Moley!! What an amazing week and day we’ve had!! Monday started off slow because some of the girls started school but by thursday they picked it up and we were off! this week was a bit crazy in the gym but the girls did a fantastic job following directions, watching where they were going, listening, and staying together. We ended the week with a BANG!! Today four girls got their kip, one got a cast handstand, and NO ONE walked away from practice today without getting oh sooooo close! We had a couple of contests at the end of practice that we will most likely continue to do to push the girls to do their best. I will be posting signs for a Kip Clinic in the upcomming week and I will look into doing different clinics with different coaches so the girls get the chance to work with other coaches and other ideas. Dont forget to get your goal sheets in so we know what your goals are and can continue to plan our practices. GREAT JOB THIS WEEK! Parents, please have your child try on her competitive gear to see if we need to order new anything (leo, warm-up, etc) as we will try to do this monday.

Level 4

Wow, what an exciting week!!! The routine clinic was fantastic. The girls worked very hard during their hour. The floor routines are coming along and all the coaches are very excited. Some girls have their round-off backhandspring and others are very close. We are proud of each and every one of them. As for all the other events, we are starting to work the harder skills and have started working the bar/beam routines. There is still a lot of work before meet season begins but the girls will get there and then there won’t be any looking back. Take pride in all their accomplishments and enjoy their smiles.

Stunt Camp

Hi GTCO Cheerleaders,
Reminder: Youth and Srs have stunt camp this coming Sunday. Regular team practices are canceled.
Minis have regular practice.
Uniform Fittings are this Sunday as well.
Have a great weekend and see you all on Sunday.

Level 5

We had a couple of gilrs on vacation this week and some at camp but that didn’t stop those who were able from working hard. This week we started to put together our bar routines…it was harder than they thought it would be, but, everyone got through it. Monday we will continue to work on these so when meet season comes routines will be super easy for us. Our vaults are looking better. We are focusing on not tucking our knees off the board which is a deduction. Floor and Beam routines are looking good. We are working on cleaning up our routines now that we can do them well. On monday we will begin full floor routines and we will continue to do full beam routines. All that strength we’ve been doing is really paying off and skills are looking good. Remember ladies, the coaches are working really hard to make practice fun and to teach you gymnastics so you must work hard too! Have a fun weekend see you monday for our last week of summer schedule!!

Camp, Day 4

Our last day at camp was really fun! We played in the jumper, climbed and swung on the rope, had races, and soo much more. The craft today was a picture frame with all of our pictures in it. It was such a nice day out we went out and played. We tossed water balloons, hula hooped, played tug of war, and skipped rope. We ended our camp with some more races, more parachute, and more jumping. This week in camp was super fun! We hope to see you all in a week when classes start up again!

Camp, Day 2

We had another fun day at camp! We played baseball and everyone got a hit and on base. All the campers really enjoyed the three new stations we set up today. We ran and jumped off a springboard and onto a resi, jumped in the jumper, swung on the rope, and flipped on the bars. We also built an AMAZING FORT with trees, beds, and chairs inside. Our craft today was a kite, but, because of the rain we weren’t able to fly them…maybe tomorrow they will fly. We also played some fun races and awards were given out. We had some really helpful helpers today too! We want to thank our special helpers, Mackenzie, Mackenzie, Emily, and Katie! THANKS!! Tomorrow promises to be even more fun than today!! See you then!

Camp, Day 1

What a fantastic first day we had at camp!! We had a lot of fun jumping into the pit and swinging on the bars. The obstacle course on the beams was a challange that every overcame and did by themselves…which was AWESOME! We jumped on the big jumper, swung on the rope as well as jumped across the tumble trak. We had some races and met our friend Mr. Fred, the rope snake. We learned some new games to play outside and played the Color Game around the parachute. Our craft today was a bug catcher that we decorated and took home to catch some creepy crawley bugs in. Keep a look out for all the fun we’re going to have tomorrow!!
