Hello all! I just thought I would give you an update on my plans for after graduation, which is less than 3 months away, but who’s counting?! I’m not sure if I shared this or not, but I branched Medical Services in the Army. I’m not exactly sure what this means yet, or what I will be doing once I finish all of my training, but it was my first choice, so I’m pretty excited about it. I’m hoping to stay on the research side of things, but usually you have to have at least your Masters to be considered to specialize in the field that I would eventually like to go into. So, I guess I’ll just have to wait and see where they put me.

After graduation, I am going to go on a trip to Costa Rica for 2 weeks in May. Then I have about a month and a half off once I get back to do absolutely nothing! I report at Fort Sam Houston, TX (near San Antonio) on 18July. I have 9 weeks of training there until I report to my first unit. We haven’t gotten our first assignments yet, but I’m hoping we get them before the end of the month. Once I figure out what unit I’m going to, it will give me a better idea of if, or how soon I will be deploying and where. Most 2LTs these days are deploying within a year of their commissioning, so I guess we will just have to wait and see.

That’s all for now. I hope season is going well!
